Runway Maintenance at PDX

The North Runway Extension and Rehabilitation Project is entering into the second year of the three-year Portland International Airport runway rehabilitation program with a scheduled start date of mid-May.

Phase one of the project took place from May to October 2009, which closed the north runway to all air traffic. That phase of the project included rehabilitation of the north runway as well preparations for this year’s extension work.
Phase two of the project will again temporarily shorten and then close the north runway for the actual lengthening of the runway at both ends. Due to this change, neighbors of PDX may notice a change in flight operations or noise. The second phase of the project is scheduled to be complete in mid-October, one month shorter than phase one of the project
